Now is a 2002 CD by Bhagavan Das. Unlike his older material, this one combines his Buddhist messages with electronic funky and trip hop beats. The entire album was produced and arranged by Mike D. of the Beastie Boys, and features help from longtime Beastie Boys associate Mark Ramos-Nishita on keyboards. This was released by Karuna/Razor & Tie.
Kermit Michael Riggs could have lived a simple life in California. His experiences lead him to a path of spirituality, including numerous trips to India where he would meet with a man who would become his guru, Neem Karoli Baba. This would be the start of a lifelong spiritual journey for Riggs, who put aside his Western ways and became known as Bhagavan Das. Das would become an intent student of both Hinduism and Buddhism. The late 60's and early 70's would present a great awareness of spirituality and faith from India and outlying countries, some true, some not so true. Bhagavan Das was genuine, and he became a friend for a number of famous people, including artist Peter Max.
